Ohio CCCC 2013 Spring Meeting Minutes

MAY 4, 2013

The spring meeting of the Ohio CCCC association was held at Grace Chapel Church on Saturday May 4, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Pastor Harry Knotts and Dr. John Hood coordinated the meeting with approximately 20 pastors, spouses, and lay leaders in attendance. Dr. Marshal Pearson won the longest drive award (it was good to see Marshal) and fellowship with him.

Pastor Harry Knotts led the group in worship, singing several songs and praying between songs.

Following worship the group heard from Don Cockroft, former NFL standout with the Cleveland Browns. Don presented a spirited message taking excerpts from his book “The Cardiac Kids” and his life and related how God had affected his life and career.

Dr. Shane Johnson then presented a study dealing with “Leadership” in pastoral ministry. The presentation was spirit led and is available via email communication with Dr. Johnson.

The people in attendance indicated they really enjoyed both speakers and the messages they presented to our group.

The group was then treated to a homemade spaghetti dinner with salad, rolls and deserts. Thanks to all the people at Grace Chapel that helped with the meal preparation, serving and cleanup. Thanks to the offerings given by all of you that paid for the meal.

At 1:00 PM, Dr. Hood promptly called the business meeting to order. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved as read. Dr. Hood indicated the association was in need of leadership in the Treasure, Secretary and possibly Moderator positions. Brief discussions were held about each position and it was decided to delay filling the positions until the fall meeting. Pastor Knotts did agree to take notes of the meeting and present them to the association.

The discussion then moved to trying to find a host church for the fall meeting scheduled for October 26 from 10:00 until 2:00. It has now been confirmed the meeting will be held at the Huntsburg Congregational Church in Huntsburg, Ohio 44646 with Rev. Robert Barber leading the session.

Brief discussions were held discussing Parkman church and the pastoral needs. Their interim pastor is leaving for Belgium early this summer for missions work.

Steve Carmany will be joining the Board of Directors for the National CCCC organization.

James Road church in Cleveland is still without a permanent pastor please pray for God to lead a good pastor to lead that flock.

Franklin then presented a report on the work being done in Russia and how hard it has become traveling to and from. There are many Christians in Russia that are interested in hearing the gospel. Prayers and financial support (if able) are needed to maintain this ministry.

David Brand reported on the work he is doing with Romans 3:3 and the Christian Observer. Dave is staying very busy writing various papers dealing with our Christian faith.

Dr. Hood adjourned the meeting and Steve Carmany led the group in prayer.

It was a pleasure visiting with all my brothers and sisters in Christ and having fellowship together. The work we all have been called to do is not easy and requires a strong support group to help us through the trials and tribulations of pasturing, teaching and shepherding our flocks. God Bless all of you for your faithfulness in fulfilling your calling.

Reverend Harry Knotts, Secty.
