2014 Fall Meeting Minutes

November 1, Faith Community Fellowship

The meeting was opened by Dave Kimberly with a time of worship. Dr. John Palmer, President of Emerge Counseling Services in Akron led a seminar on Work/Life Balance. We took a personal assessment that he has developed based on his experience of 31 years in the pastoral ministry. Dr. Palmer served two years as General Secretary for the General Council of the Assemblies of God, and in 2011 became the President of EMERGE Counseling Services – a mental health ministry based in Akron, Ohio, that specializes in supporting and encouraging pastors and missionaries. You can download the free 16 point Word/Life Balance – Personal Assessment for your personal and church leaders use from their website www.emerge.org . Dr. Palmer does many of these seminars not only in our nation but also in other parts of the world. He and his wife Debbie co-founded Come Along Side Ministry to assist pastors/spouses and churches more effectively accomplish their God given mission. Because we felt he was so effective we voted unanimously to give him from our treasure $400 in support of the ministry. We would encourage all of you to take the Personal Assessment annually.

The ladies of Faith Community Fellowship provided a delicious luncheon for the 25 attending.

I opened our business meeting with prayer. We received Matt Reed’s treasure’s report which had a balance of $2,885.23. We gave Dr. Palmer a gratuity of $100 and his Come Along Side Ministry $400. We also voted to give Franklin Shannon’s Ministry, Cooperative International Studies, $1,000 for his work in Russia and Haiti. Franklin has been asked by 23 Haitian students to set up a seminary similar to what he did in Russia. One of the students was converted from being a voodoo priest and presently pastors a congregation. If funds permit, Franklin will be traveling to Haiti this November to get the school started. If your church can assist him with finances, it would be appreciated.

Dr. Dave Kimberly has agreed to be the speaker for the Winter Banquet. We will contact Malone University, hopefully for Friday evening February 27.

Dr. Ron Hamilton has agreed to come for our Spring Meeting. We discussed holding the meeting on a Thursday since it is primarily pastors and retired people who attend. This will free up a spring weekend. So we are meeting Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Salem Evangelical Church, Marion, Ohio from 9:30am-3pm. If we have a business meeting time, it will be very brief so as to give Ron both morning and afternoon to share with us what is happening in the Conference regarding staff, churches, progress, visions, and whatever the Lord puts before him for our information and dialogue with him.

Bob Barber updated us about our Ohio churches and some of contacts he has made. Steve Carmany shared about the national staff, Annual Conference, and Board of Trustees. John Kimball has moved to Florida to pastor Palmwood Church, a CCCC Church in Development. He will continue to give a third of his time to Conference Church Development. Rob O’Neal, Shakopee, MN will serve one third of his time as Director of Church Multiplication. And Lenn Zeller of Stowe, Pennsylvania will service one third of his time as Director of Conference Care. Check out our national website www.ccccusa.com for more information.

Dave Dake closed the meeting with prayer.
